Rescue 2012 will shortly be packing their bags and heading over to Europe for the 2011 European Surf Life Saving Championships in Alicante - Spain from 15 to 23 September, further promoting Rescue 2012.

If you are competing and interested in finding out more about Rescue 2012, make sure you seek us out – our representatives will be able to provide you with any information to assist with your travel plans.

In the lead up to the European Championships, we spoke with a couple of German competitors who will be competing at the European Championships in September, kick starting their training regime for Rescue 2012.

Christian Ertel competes for DLRG Stralsund and at Rescue 2010 was in the German National Team awarded World Champion for the 100m manikin carry with fins and the 4 x 50m obstacle and tube relays.

Christian is looking forward to returning to the World Championships to defend his previous titles, and in the lead up would like to increase his skills in the pool as well as in surf events, allowing him to compete at Rescue 2012 as an all rounder. He is also looking forward to seeing the life saving stars in action on home soil.

Aline Hundt competes for Galle-Saalekreis in Germany and in previous Rescue events has taken home first place in manikin carry with fins (Rescue 2010), second place in manikin carry with fins and third place in manikin tow with fins (Rescue 2008) and third place in manikin tow with fins (Rescue 2006).

Aline’s goal over the next 18 months is to make the German National Team for Rescue 2012 and also compete well in the 100m carry with fins and team relays.

We wish Christian and Aline all the best for the European Championships and look forward to seeing them here in Australia in November 2012...
